Omron CP1W-CIF01 RS‑232C Serial Communication Option Board

Omron CP1W‑CIF01 is an RS‑232C serial communication option board for CP series PLCs. Adds one RS‑232C port with a 9‑pin D‑sub female connector. Installs in Option Board slot 1 or 2 of CP1H, CP1L, CP1E CPU units.

Compatibility information:

• This option board belongs to the Omron CP1W series.

• Compatible CPU units: CP1H, CP1L (L and M types, excluding CP1L‑E), CP1E (N and NA types), CJ2M‑CPU3x

• Mounts in Option Board slot 1 or 2 (for CPU units with 30, 40 or 60 I/O points).

• Also compatible with G9SP safety controllers for serial communication.

• Up to two option boards can be mounted per CPU unit when using Slot 1 and Slot 2.

System Integration:

• The board plugs directly into the CPU option board slot — no external cable or backplane required.

• Configuration performed using CX‑Programmer (version 8.1 or higher) via the I/O Table and Unit Setup.

• Signal mode (Host Link, NT Link, no‑protocol, etc.) and communication parameters (baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits) are set in the PLC Setup.

• For distance extension beyond 15 m, use the CP1W‑CIF11 (non‑isolated RS‑422A/485) or CP1W‑CIF12 (isolated RS‑422A/485) option boards.

• Use shielded twisted‑pair cable for communications wiring.

• Do not insert or remove the option board while the CPU unit is powered on.
