This SICK WL12-3P2431 (1041436) is a compact, robust photoelectric sensor for retro-reflective detection. Housed in a metal (zinc die-cast) body rated IP66, IP67, and IP69K, it is built for demanding industrial conditions. It uses a visible red light (640 nm) with a built-in polarizing filter and offers reliable, long-range detection via an autocollimation optical system.
Applications:
-
Logistics and warehousing: detection of packages and pallets on conveyor systems to optimize efficiency
-
Packaging machinery: monitoring fill levels of bottles and cans; ensuring correct carton sealing
-
Automotive industry: part detection in welding and assembly for precise positioning
-
Pharmaceutical industry: detection of transparent ampoules and vials
Specifications:
-
Sensing range and detection: Retro-reflective, max. 0…7 m (with PL80A reflector) or 0…5 m sensing distance. Visible red light source (640 nm).
-
Optical details: 15 mm × 48.5 mm × 42 mm metal housing, approx. 1.5° angle of dispersion. For reference: Ø100 mm light spot size at 3 m distance. Polarizing filter for challenging targets.
-
Electrical specification: 10…30 V DC, ≤ 30 mA consumption. PNP output, light/dark switching selectable, ≤ 100 mA output current, 330 µs typical response time, switching frequency up to 1,500 Hz.
-
Mechanical protection: IP66 / IP67 / IP69K ingress protection, –40°C…+60°C operating temperature.
-
Connection & adjustment: M12, 4‑pin male connector. Sensitivity adjustable via a 5‑turn potentiometer.
-
In the box: The sensor is delivered with two clamping brackets (BEF-KH-W12) and screws to facilitate mounting.
System Integration:
-
This sensor belongs to the SICK W12‑3 series, known for its rugged metal housing and suitability for a wide range of industrial applications.
-
The universal supply voltage (10…30 V DC) and the PNP output that can be configured for light/dark operation simplify integration.
-
The IP69K rating, in combination with the ECOLAB and resistance tests, qualifies the sensor for use in food and high‑moisture / high‑pressure washdown areas.
Standards & Compliance:
UL‑Recognized (File No. NRKH.E181493), RoHS compliant. For detailed certificates, refer to the manufacturer’s official product documentation.
